9th grade- Welding Technology: The students will learn to weld using S.M.A.W. (stick) as well as G.M.A.W. (mig) and cut using oxy-fuel and plasma. Safety in welding will be stressed and related theory will be taught. This course is designed to allow students to explore the welding trade as well as learn a few skills that will follow them in many trades.
10th,11th,12th grades- Welding Technology: Students who choose to enter Welding Technology will be entering an American Welding Society (S.E.N.S.E.)program. The student will attempt to become educationally certified as a entry level welder. They must complete aproximately 80 different welds using a variety of welding processes for the performance section of the program. The students will also have theory in 17 different weld related areas. They must pass a written exam in all 17 areas. There is a final comprehensive written exam that must be passed before getting the A.W.S. certification. Upon passing all task and test the A.W.S. will send the student a certificate of recognition and completion.There will also be certification test given by the instructor if the students are placed in Local Industry. Students completing this program will be considered for a cooperative education placement their Senior year in one of many local industries.
